What is your background?

I am an NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Wellness Coach. I was certified as a Wellness Coach in the summer of 2006 by Wellcoaches Corporation (include link to Wellcoaches), the premier certifying organization for wellness coaches. I, along with my husband Dave, own a thriving personal training studio in beautiful Conifer, CO. I got into coaching because I felt that I could provide more support to my personal training clients other then just what we did in the studio. I was looking for a way to truly help them change their behaviors while they were outside of the gym.

How can coaching help me?

Wellness Coaching can provide a structured and supportive approach to behavior modification. We will work on changing those habits that are not as healthy into more beneficial habits. We do this step by step, week after week. As you encounter obstacles and challenges, we will strategize on realistic ways that you can overcome them. Working together, we will find real solutions to some of your toughest problems. After a 3 month period, you can look back and see the progress you have made. Coaching gives you that extra support you need to achieve your optimal level of wellness.

How do you decide what I need?

I do not decide what you need; each client is completely unique. The coaching process is client-driven; that is, YOU tell me what you want to work on, what you are ready to change in your life and what you are willing to do to change it. I will help you create a realistic plan to get to where you want to go and then I will help you achieve it.

What is the time commitment?

I ask that all prospective clients commit to a three-month coaching duration. This is a long enough period of time for you to see personal change. If you are not willing to work on changing your health for at least three months, you are not ready to engage a wellness coach.

The first coach session is typically 90 minutes; during which we review an initial Client Questionaire, set expectations and start to create your Unique Wellness Vision and Three Month Goals. Subsequent coach sessions are conducted weekly and are typically 30-45 minutes in length. All coaching sessions are conducted via phone.

I also request that, during our coaching sessions, clients be in a location where there are no distractions and they can truly focus on our conversation. Both of us will be taking notes during the session, so it's great if clients can have access to a desk and/or computer during the session.

What is your philosophy on nutrition?

I do not promote any diets. I support a balanced and realistic way of eating that encourages whole foods: fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy sources of proteins and lots of water. To feel your best, healthy eating needs to be a lifestyle, not something we do for a week. My attitude is also realistic: I love chocolate and will typically have a glass or two of wine each week. We all have certain foods that we love. Together, we will find a way for you to eat healthier, yet include some of favorites.

How do I get started?

The first step is for us to schedule a Free Initial Consultation. This 20-30 minute phone conversation will allow you to gain further information about the wellness coaching process. It will also allow me to understand what your expectations are, what your readiness level is and whether or not we will be a compatible coach-client pairing.

From here, we will schedule our first Coach Session. The first Coach session is approximately 90-minutes and we cover alot of ground! We will review your Client Questionaire and start discussing your Wellness Vision and Three-Month Goals. All coaching sessions are performed via phone and last about 30-45 minutes. In our first Coach session, we will also discuss scheduling subsequent coaching sessions so that they fit seamlessly into your schedule.
