What is Wellness Coaching?
Do you ever feel like you are ready to make a change in your life, but can't quite seem to make it happen? This is a common problem and a tough one to approach alone. Behavior change starts in the mind, and a wellness coach is a person who can help you to facilitate positive change in your life.
My coaching methodology integrates principles and tools from behavioral science, psychology, counseling, and life and corporate coaching, and is consistent with the International Coach Federation's core coaching competencies. Working together, we will identify areas where you are ready to make a lasting change. We will co-create an overall wellness vision that encompasses what your ideal “healthy you” is like and document your motivators for getting there, challenges that may come up and we will devise realistic strategies to overcome those hurdles. Together, we'll develop three month goals in the areas of fitness, nutrition, stress management and overall health. These goals will be in the areas that you are ready to make a change. Through weekly coaching sessions (usually via phone) we'll discuss the small steps that you can take toward reaching your three month goals. Each week, you'll create a small number of doable goals and work to integrate them into your life. As you encounter challenges, we'll work together to come up with ways to get around those challenges.
A coach is dedicated to a client's success, combining a number of different roles: sometimes a sounding board, often a mentor and, at times, a challenger, using tough love. Along the way, we will continually assess your progress against your three month goals to help you stay on track and identify problem areas. At the end of the three month coaching session, you can look back on months of small behavioral changes that can really have a lasting impact on your health and life as a whole. We will then look forward into the future and discuss how to maintain your new healthy habits! Having a wellness coach as you work to facilitate change in your life is a powerful tool and one that can make all the difference in your success.
